Simeon and Anna

When Mary and Joseph arrive at the temple to dedicate their newborn son they are met with two surprises. God sends Simeon and Anna who each make prophecies about Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. This surprising event is the mood of Christmas, because the salvation of God is beyond our categories. The mark of God's hand is the unexpected. The salvation of God is unexpected, universal and uninvited.
