August in Lytton

During the month of July and August, the Nohomin Creek wildfire burning 1.7 km northwest of Lytton on the west side of Fraser River has destroyed over 3,700 hectors of forested area and displaced many residents in the area. Fortunately, the fire was under control by August 10, and we were able to do a delivery trip to the Westside Hall on the west side of Fraser River on August 5th.

Summer Program
During the week of August 15, we also participated in the summer program planned by Love First Nation Ministry (LFNM). The LFNM is composed of several Korean churches in the Lower Mainland and have been ministering in the Lytton area for many years. The summer program took place in 7 different locations in the Lytton area that included children/youth programs, crafts, and community meals. We were assigned to conduct hair cuts, a technol computer clinic, and a soap making workshop in the Nicomen Band Hall on August 16 and 17. You can check out the week of activities in the following link:  https://youtu.be/wwaNJn4cpQ8

Rivers Festival
Our team of 25 was all set to conduct carnival games and crafts in the Lytton Rivers Festival on Saturday August 27.  However, the event was postponed the last minute because the school building had to be shut down to facilitate water connection to the temporary housing that is near completion. It was a difficult decision by the festival organizers, and we shared their disappointment. However, 4 vehicles made a delivery trip on August 27 to the Westside Hall. The trip was memorable because it was the first time some of us travelled across the Fraser River via a cable driven ferry. We witnessed the destruction of the wildfire on both sides of the gravel road.

Next Trip
Our next trip to Lytton will be on Saturday September 24th. We will be participating in the rescheduled Rivers Festival. Most of the original 25 team members will be making the trip. We still need a few members and vehicles for the trip, please consider helping.

Your continued support for our Lytton ministry is needed and appreciated. Our mission is to build long term relationship with the community by making ourselves available to assist the Lyttonites in their long journey of rebuilding.

Would you pray for us?
