People’s lives can be messy and overwhelming, and there are times that we need external help to bring our lives back into right order with God. We believe that God can make a difference in every person’s life as they open their hearts and give Him access to their souls to encounter Him and allow Him to meet them where they are at. Churches need to be a safe community where people can come with their brokenness, hurts, and burdens to receive care and ministry through a confidential, caring, equipped, and effective prayer ministry. Prayer Ministry is an important ministry for the local church to provide. Where else do you see people empowered, released and sent out to intercede, support, pray for, give words of knowledge, prophecy and pray for healing? This is frontline ministry. Prayer ministers, when equipped and released to do Spirit-led and empowered ministry, can be an effective and vital part of the ministry team of a church, both on the weekends and throughout the week.
Sessions Include:
1) Foundations for Prayer Ministry
What is prayer ministry and why do we do it? What is the role of a prayer ministry in the local church? How can an active and engaged prayer ministry have an impact on the church and the church services? We will be helping to find a foundation for prayer ministry so that as a church you can discover what God is uniquely calling you to in your community. What is the vision for Prayer Ministry for FLC?
2) Creating a Culture of Prayer
To see prayer ministry as a regular feature and an effective ministry of the local church it needs to actually become a part of the very fabric and culture of the church and the people. As we normalize prayer as a part of the regular church rhythm of what we do and de-stigmatize the coming forward of a person for prayer, believing that prayer makes a difference and can actually bring a change in someone's life we will see prayer ministry become a regular and effective part of the ministry of the church.
3) Best Practices and Practicing Hands-On Prayer Ministry
What are some of the best practices for prayer ministry and the tools that we will need in order to feel humbly confident and equipped to minister in the various prayer ministry settings that we find ourselves in? Prayer ministry happens in many venues and the tools that you gain here as well as the experiences that you have will set you up to be able to minister where God invites you to join him in loving people to Him.
4) How Does Soul Care and Prayer Ministry Intersect?
When a person comes to meet with you as a prayer minister and shares their story, heartaches, grief and broken places how do we respond? How do we process and deal with that and also meet them with the love and support of the Holy Spirit, and also help them to come into the healing, freedom and renewal that they long for?
5) Hearing God for Prayer Ministry
How do I take the ability to hear God and utilize it for prayer ministry with another person? We believe that God knows our hearts and that He is always speaking. Every one of us is wired by God to hear God, but how do I hear God for another in the context of prayer ministry?
6) Spiritual Warfare and the Place for Deliverance Ministry
When we are serving in prayer ministry we are on the front lines of a very real spiritual battle. In this session, we will be talking about spiritual preparedness, authority, warfare and what to do when we come into direct spiritual opposition with people who are struggling with demonization and bondage to spirits.
